Fellow in Clinical and Transplant Hepatology, is a consultant in the department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Liver transplantation at Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. He accomplished his qualification of DNB in General Medicine from P.D. Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai and qualified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Bombay Hospital and Institute of Medical Sciences, Mumbai under the guidance of Dr. Deepak Amarapurkar. He worked as a senior fellow in Clinical and Transplant Hepatology at Medanta-the Medicity, Gurugram. He successfully qualified the European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology conducted by the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, the British Society of Gastroenterology and the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is also certified by the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, USA.
Dr. Sonavane has a vast experience in treating patients with varied ailments in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is trained in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. He has treated several complex hepato-biliary and liver transplant cases. Dr. Sonavane has a profound research interest and has authored numerous publications in esteemed international and national journals. He has also contributed to book chapters in the field of hepatology and liver transplantation. He has presented many international travel award winning posters and delivered platform presentations at various revered international conferences.
He is a life-time member of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology and the Indian National Association for the study of Liver. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
